Strange Dreams

I had the weirdest dream. I dreamt that I had to wake up really early in the morning and get into my carrier. That is strange by itself as I sleep in late pretty much every day. So, in my dream I was woken early, and took a trip to what seemed to be a pet hospital. It couldn't have been a good place, as I saw this really big pit bull that didn't want to go in. He was such a wimp! Crying and whining... Gee whiz dog, you're so big and you acted like a little poodle. Ha ha!

So, on with the rest of the dream. I was there with Dad, and two of the kids, its early, & we are at this clinic. Next, I'm man-handled, checked-out, & weighed like a newborn baby. So weird! Now things got really strange. I was left there! Can you believe that? I actually dreamt that my family left me someplace. You know, I should probably stop watching those late night Animal Planet shows. They seem to be messing with my head.

Back to the story. So things got a bit fuzzy from here. I think the nurse gave me some kind of sedative, because the next thing you know, I'm a bit groggy, thirsty as a kitty can be, and had the wobbliest legs. I could barely stand up. My dream went WAY off the deep end next. All I remember was looking down and... Wait a second... let me do a quick re-check.

WHOA!!!!! MY FUZZIES ARE GONE!

WHERE DID THEY GO?

I know, it was those nurses! Someone call the police. They took them when I was asleep!

Maybe that pit bull knew something all along.

Cappy Birthday

This past Saturday was my very first birthday and I had a good day. I absolutely LOVE my soft food, and the big guy around here put down a particularly big bowl. Yum!

My birthday wish was to have the Giants win the NL West, so I'm a happy Cappy. I guess I could have wished for world peace... Well there will be more birthdays to blow that one on.

Now that school is in, the people count around here is always changing. I miss the kids a lot during the day, so I do get a bit nutty when the entire team is here.

Extreme living room hockey is back in season, and I do really like to play the game. The kids get even more crazy than I do when they play. Dad even played a round this weekend... I think the ping pong ball spots the kids got from blocking dad's shots are gone by now.

Well, got to run and stack some Z's. Got to charge the batteries for later today.

CAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

So, let me start by wishing everyone a Cappy New Year. Isn't that what everyone yells at midnight? Sounds good to me. Well, I had a great holiday season. Everyone was home for a couple weeks, so it was day-in and day-out playtime. I got to practice my hunting skills on lots of different toys, balls, people, etc. I must admit that I am getting a bit more bold, and a lot more difficult to corral. Funny thing about us cats.... we live in a three-dimensional world (not like the two dimensional world of the dog). Even being just a few pounds and three months old, counter tops are now easily within reach with a bit of a running start. One of my favorite spots to research is the kitchen. I have go to say that this place really has me all worked up. Incredible smells, lots of different noises, and a boatload of different doors always opening and closing so quickly. I just have to know what is going on - but they don't let me!!!!! What is up with that? I would say that resistance if futile, they know I will be up there more than not, so why fight it. Oh, and yes I am ignoring you when you tell me to get down. I hear you, I choose not listen.

This little red dot has appeared out of no where and I like it! It seems to like the dark (like me), it likes to run around like crazy (like me), and it is really, REALLY fast! (like me.) The weird thing is that I can't catch it! It will appear, disappear, land on my toes, tails or whatever, but I can't feel it, can't eat it, can't do a darned thing with it. I'll keep trying.

If anyone has a suggestion on a good trap to set, drop me a note in the comments section - I'll respond.

I got my first taste of people food (OK
it was smoked wild salmon) and Woo Hoo that was good! I'm actually a really good eater, and we are using both dry kibble all day, and then a can of some soft food some nights. We tried to go with one of those 'high end', all natural types and man that stuff was nasty! I don't have a clue as to what pate' is, but it was mush. All natural, gourmet, fancy shmancy... my harry @$$! Give me something that I can sink my little teeth into, thank you! Want to really get my perfect nutritional diet... Start with a frozen mouse - hit the chop button for just a few secs... let warm to room temp. Now that sounds like a nice balanced feline snack. Think about it... Tuna? Uh, cats don't go into the ocean to catch a tuna! Trout? Much more like it. Rodent puree - oh yeah!

Just don't bother asking...

BTW, the next time you think you are having a bad hair day, think of this picture. Do you have a clue how long it takes for me to fix my hair?

I AM SUPERCAPPY

There is a LOT of fun stuff to play with when you are a kitten. Well actually, just about ANYTHING can be a fun thing to play with when you are a kitten. After our trip to southern California, we got a half dozen ping pong balls to play with in the house. I have hidden two and if the humans around here look hard enough they generally find the other four.

My newest fun activity is what we call SuperCappy. Check out this picture (click it to see me much bigger.)

I can fly!

Here is how we play: First, one of the family uses a paper towel to dry their hands (this is the best thing to use) and balls up a paper towel. I will then jump up on the chair (OK, I'll admit it, I actually come on command, will jump up on the chair on command, yada, yada, yada... ) Back to the game. Someone will throw the balled up towel down the hall and I JUST HAVE TO go after it. I run from the chair, up the back of the couch, and then (see picture) jump from the couch to the carpet in the living room. The danger in all this is that 1. the chair and couch are made of leather and are really slippery for a clumsy kitty, and 2. if I were to fall off the couch or not reach the carpet, the floor is wood. That would probably be a bad day if I hit it hard. I'll keep you posted if that happens.

So, another really fun thing to do around here is to
just check out what is happening outside. Our backyard is really cool. We have no back yard neighbors - well other than the golf course, and the birds, pigs, coyotes, lizards, squirrels, and OTHER CATS?! in MY back yard. Now, I will say this - if any of those cats ever decides to get in my house... well, lets just say it won't be pretty. Here is a picture of me checking out a hummingbird. I have admiration for those little guys. They move in all directions faster than I can. I wonder if I could get a pair of wings that work like that?

Windowsills are great - especially in the mornings. The sun is warm and they are just the right size for me to walk along on patrol. The downside? I can't yet jump up there on my own. I have to have a chair moved over so I can jump, or suffer the indignity of being put up by hand. Please don't let my sisters or brother know this - I couldn't stand the teasing. (This pic is also clickable.)

So, the last topic is my food. Apparently, mom feels I need to put on some pounds. Now I get a can of some amazing soft food as my nightly meal. There has been beef, chicken and veal so far. They all smell the same -- like tuna! Well, how about some real tuna instead? I must say that this stuff is great and I certainly do chow it down. I think it is working - I'm a bit more dense these days ( and I don't mean in the head folks!)

Cappy is on the road!

So the new digs are all set up... got the play areas, the golf balls, fuzzy discs, etc., all in their right spots - and guess what? We pack up and head for HOURS and HOURS in the truck. Yes, I travel! Not too bad either. Yep, I put up a bit of a stink to start - with the new carrier, all the sounds, vibrations, etc.

So, I spent most of the time sleeping... yeah, I'm a kitten. That is what I do. I got to watch the cars as we passed them. That was cool. Too bad we have such dark tinting on the windows, otherwise I would have waved to all those people. The trip to the L.A. area was really not bad. We stopped for some food, some gas and a well needed bio break.

We stayed at my extended family's house. Us cats have HUGE extended families, so I probably have a place to stay anywhere I want to go - but more on that at a later date. So, I'm hanging in kitty playground. There is lots of stuff to play with around here. My two favorites are a ping pong ball and these strange Nerf missiles.

The big guy loads up ten or so and shoots them around me from across the room. I of course get to attack - all claws and teeth at any that I can get my paws on. Lots and lots of fun.

We had a big (and I mean BIG) Thanksgiving meal around here. There must have been a dozen kids. So I got a lot of playing & socializing in. So much that I am pooped! The nap on the big guy was good, but not nearly long enough. So, I'm going to cut the chat short as I have got to get my beauty sleep. But before I do, I want to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving.

Vacation... Decisions, Decisions

I of course could also forgo the lazy fire and use this contraption. It is called an 'elliptical exerciser.' That sounds like a long and complicated name for a clothes hanger. I'm just kidding... they don't hang any clothes on it, but it is fun to climb and jump around.

I think I will pass on the heavy machinery, and instead do my exercise using my fuzzy disk, the golf balls and my newest toy - a plain old balled up paper towel.

I also got a new play house today! It is really interesting because as I grow, it can also be added on with new modules. There are a ton of different types of additions. From platforms, toys, more scratching posts, slides, etc. I can't wait to see when the next one arrives. I have visions of a giant play structure with bridges, zip lines and maybe even a wet bar with whole, half & half and cream on tap. (Oh a kitty can dream can't he?)

Football on Sunday - A PET?!?!?!

I watched three football games today and I have to say that this Sunday football stuff is rather strange. Why do these huge guys fight over one small ball? How about they just give each one a bag of catnip and call it a day? That way there would be fewer guys getting hurt.

Such an early Sunday start is something unusual around here - we do like our sleep in the mornings after being up late last night, but the pots and pans were clanging way early this morning. During the local team's game (SF 49rs for anyone who wants to know) the kitchen was a beehive of activity. Quite a bit of cooking and once it was done - gone! Two BIG pans of Shells & Cheese, one with veggies (huh?) Well both were safely put away for another day.

Next came brunch, lots of playing with the kids, a meal of my own and more playing. By this time another of the football games was on and it sure was exciting. Maybe there is something about a couple dozen guys beating the crap out of eachother on a gridiron. So by the end of the day I was knocked out and someone snuck in to take this rather unflattering photo.

So now on to a rather serious subject... I think I may actually be (dare I say this.. a PET!) Let me throw out my thinking here. First, I get free roam around here as long as someone is here and keeping an eye out on me. Second, there seems to be some discussions on when I will get shot (or shots that is), and when I will lose my 'privates'. OUCH!? So, today I kind of had an accident on one of the pillows on the couch. That might teach the lady around here to stop referring to me as a "rabid squirrel!"
